NH Art Association Celebrates 80 years with live exhibit and virtual auction.

"Eighty years ... this is a significant milestone for any organization," Board of Trustees President Renee Giffroy said. "We're the oldest association in New Hampshire and one of the older associations in the country."The online silent auction goes public the same day as the reception, and will run through Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. Auction items will be on display at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery and may be viewed in person or online. All bidding will be held online, where items may also be tracked.

When: The online reception will take place Thursday, Nov. 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. The silent auction also begins online at 6 p.m. and ends Friday, Dec.11 at 6 p.m.
Where: The auction items can all be viewed online and in person at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery,136 State St., Portsmouth. Gallery hours and auction live viewing are Mondays and Tuesdays by appointment; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m.

NHAA celebrates its 80th anniversary with an exhibit and auction at 136 State ST., Portsmouth, NH and online at nhartassociation.org. On Nov. 19, at 6 p.m., there will be a virtual celebration via the Zoom platform. State and local dignitaries have been invited to the celebration. We will be auctioning close to 100 pieces of artwork from our archives and current members.
Also beginning on Nov. 19, at 6 p.m., NHAA is planning a silent auction, where buyers can view the artwork in the gallery or on the association’s website, and then will be able to place and track their bids online through 6 p.m. on Dec. 11.
This is a two month exhibit that will be available for viewing at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery from Nov. 6, 2020 - Jan. 2, 2021 and in an online gallery at nhartassociation.org from Nov. 19, 2020 - Jan. 2, 2021.
During that time, the work in the exhibit will be included in an online auction from Nov. 19 - Dec. 11! Sales that occur online or in the gallery before or after the auction bidding period will sell for full price.

Gallery talk from a joint show with Ree Katrak at The Barn Gallery, Ogunquit ME in May 2019.
This video shows how I work from multiple plein air studies done on location in order to create a larger studio oil painting. Studies may include oil paintings, charcoal drawings, print making, and - yes- even photos. I like to return to the same location again and again, at differnt times of day or night, in different weather conditions, until I know my site inside out. All of the sketches and smaller paintings are then synthesized into a larger painting. The smaller ones are spontaneous and fresh. I try to paint no more than two hours outdoors each time as the light changes. Each plein piece teaches me something new.
So Many Wonderful Themes," the Gallery at 100 Market's current fine art exhibition, is, as the title implies, an outstanding collection of multiple subjects.
